Dear Writer

I urge you to continue writing above all else. With time slipping through your small fingers the best way to slow down the rapid descent is to pick up a pen and think. Not too much though or you’ll end up like poor Annie who spends countless hours in that dark library room alone at odd hours of the night. Too much of anything will crush you under its weight, like adopting a hundred thousand puppies. I sense this is especially true for writing. Don’t let that discourage you though. I think writing is a beautiful  expression of your unique experience. Another thing. The pen is a sword and deserves respect, or it will overrun your life, and you will be a slave to it like uncle Jack who sleeps 4 hours a night to wake up to battle with the words he calls his friends. This sword when utilized at the right time by a worthy person has the power to change the world.

Good writing is honest, seek that first and foremost when you find yourself lost. Honest writing can change countless lives. It doesn’t have to though (that’s only one purpose)…it can just as well be a shoulder to cry on and a voice of encouragement. If it seems pointless at times, it is far from it. What you end up writing will change the way you see the world and might even shape the course of where you live, what you do, who you fall in love with. So be observant my bumbling bee. Go to the undiscovered flowers of writing and language, but don’t forget to share it with others (ideally with a little bumble bee dance). They need you to share the treasure you’ve stumbled upon and you need them to keep you sane or at least as sane as a writer can be. Follow what captivates your heart and don’t forget to bring a notebook because your best thoughts can slip away just as unexpectedly as they were gifted. And of course feel free to write me anytime 😉

Love,

Your muse
